Neohesperidin Dihydrochalcone Powder

Abbreviated as NHDC is a flavonoid derivative extracted from natural citrus fruits (especially bitter oranges). It is a high-sweetness and multi-functional food additive obtained through the alkaline hydrogenation reaction of neohesperidin. Its sweetness is approximately 1500-1800 times that of sucrose, but it has a unique property of delaying the release of sweet taste, with a refreshing and no-after-taste texture. It is a highly favored sweetening modifier and flavor enhancer in the food industry.

High-potency sweetness and flavor modification

The sweetness is extremely high, approximately 1500-1800 times that of sucrose, but the sweetness exhibits a unique delayed characteristic. The sweetness is released slowly in the mouth, reaches its peak later, and lasts longer, effectively masking the bitterness, astringency, and unpleasant aftertaste in food.

Antioxidation and free radical scavenging

As a flavonoid derivative, it has significant antioxidant activity. The multiple phenolic hydroxyl groups in its molecular structure can directly eliminate hydroxyl radicals, superoxide anions, and hydrogen peroxide and other reactive oxygen species.

Anti-inflammatory and immune regulation

Reduces the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-6, tumor necrosis factor-α, and nitric oxide. Exhibits anti-inflammatory effects similar to non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, but without gastrointestinal side effects.

Sweetener & flavor modifier for oral health food and dietary supplements

NHDC powder is widely applied in plant extract capsules, vitamin tablets, collagen oral powder, joint-care solid drinks and sports nutrition supplements. It masks the inherent bitterness of functional raw materials, creates a pleasant sweet taste, improves product palatability, and is popular in cross-border health product brands and pharmacy supplement lines.

Zero-calorie sweet raw material for sugar-free beverages and solid drinks

Blended with erythritol, stevia and other sweeteners, NHDC is used to produce sugar-free carbonated drinks, fruit juice beverages, herbal tea drinks and stick-pack solid drinks. It provides natural sucrose-like sweetness, suppresses the bitter taste of tea polyphenols and fruit tannins, and helps brands launch low-sugar, zero-calorie beverage products for health-conscious consumers.

Flavor improver for confectionery, baked goods and chewing gum

This powder is added to sugar-free candy, hard candy, chewing gum, cookies and low-sugar baked pastries. It maintains stable sweetness under high baking temperatures, covers the bitter taste of polyol sugar alcohols commonly used in sugar-free candy, delivers a clean sweet taste with no weird aftertaste, and extends the lasting sweet flavor of candies.

Taste masking agent for pharmaceutical intermediates and oral over-the-counter medicines

Pharmaceutical-grade neohesperidin dihydrochalcone powder serves as a flavor corrector for oral tablets, granules, syrups and suspension agents. It neutralizes strong bitter tastes from antibiotics, herbal medicine extracts and mineral drug raw materials, improves medication experience for patients especially children, and complies with global food and pharmaceutical additive safety standards.
