Rhizoma corydalis is an herb native to China.In traditional Chinese medicine, yanhusuo is believed to promote blood circulation, invigorate qi (energy for internal movement), and relieve all types of pain, including menstrual pain, abdominal pain, and hernia.
Rhizoma Corydalis Yanhusuo is a species of genus Corydalis, which is perennial, with tubers yellow, rounded, (0.5-)1-2.5 cm in diam. Stems erect, 10-30 cm, with 1 or sometimes 2 scale leaves.
The alkaloid dehydrocorybulbine (DHCB), extracted from the roots of the plant, can be helpful in reducing neuropathic pain. Tetrahydropalmatine is a major constituent alkaloid which also has analgesic activity.This species is an important herb in traditional Chinese medicine.
