Gymnema Sylvestre is a fragile species, a slow-growing perennial medicinal woody climber found in central and peninsular India. Gymnema sylvestre is a large, more or less pubescent woody climber. Occasionally cultivated as a medicinal plant. The leaves are opposite, usually elliptic or ovate. Flowers are small, and yellow, in umbels. The follicles are cylindrical, lanceolate, and up to 3 inches long. The leaves of Gymnema sylvestre are used to extract Gymnemagenin to produce Gymnema acid, a chemically complex mixture of saponins and gurmarin.
Function:
1) Control blood sugar: The acid in the extract can reduce the intestinal absorption of glucose, increase insulin secretion, and improve the utilization of glucose by cells, thus helping to regulate blood sugar levels. Therefore, it may be useful for people with diabetes or those who want to maintain healthy blood sugar levels.
2) Appetite suppression and weight control: Vine extract is believed to have appetite-suppressing properties, which may help reduce desire and overeating. It is commonly used as a supplement to support weight management.
3) Anti-inflammatory effect: Studies have found that the extract of Wunga has anti-inflammatory properties. This could be beneficial in controlling conditions related to inflammation, such as arthritis and inflammatory bowel disease.
Application:
1) Applied in food and additives.
2) Applied in cosmetics additive.
3) Applied in health products.
