What is the L-Glutathione Reduced?

Glutathione (GSH) is composed of glutamate, cysteamine, and glycine and is present in almost every cell in the body. It is widely distributed in mammalian, plant, and microbial cells, and is the most important and most abundant low molecular weight peptide containing the sulfhydryl group.

Glutathione exists in both reduced (GSH) and oxidized (GSSG) forms in vivo. L-glutathione reduced is an active state, oxidized glutathione (GSSG) is an inactive state, and l-glutathione reduced accounts for the vast majority under physiological conditions.
